Hello everyone,
My name is Shantavia C. and I am asking for help due to devastating events that have occurred within the last 10 months. I unexpectedly lost my 5-year-old son Darius on October 6, 2022, and my life has been in shambles ever since. My mortgage is $2,000 a month which I can barely afford. My light bill is over $3,500 and my gas bill is $700. I am also trying to keep my son’s legacy alive. In November 2022, I started a nonprofit organization called “The Darius Chappell Holiday Giving Foundation Inc.” to give back to the community. On Christmas 2022, local donors gave toys to the schools that my son attended. On Easter, I made Easter baskets for children at a local church. This Halloween, I would like to purchase Halloween costumes for families with children who can’t afford to buy their children Halloween costumes. On Thanksgiving, I would like to give Thanksgiving baskets to at least 10 families. I just need money to get back on my feet if I had about $15,000 I would be able to pay off all my debt. I need $2,000 worth of work done to my truck including tires and brakes. My car note and car insurance combined is $1,000 a month. I owe $700 for car taxes. I am also trying to pay for my son’s slant marker/headstone which is going to cost about $5,000. I’m the backbone of my family. I was raised by my grandmother. She passed away from Covid in December 2020. My father became very ill and came to live with us for a little while in 2021-2022. He passed away five weeks after my son from a broken heart. Darius was my only child, my heart, and my world. I graduated from a private university on Mother’s Day this year. I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) and studied to become a therapist/clinician. I am looking forward to working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I will have to start paying my student loans back soon. Losing my son is such a traumatic experience. I have shifted my focus to grief counseling/therapy for parents who have lost a child or children. My son touched so many lives in his short time here on earth. Darius was truly an “Angel on Earth.” Please help me! Thank you in advance.
