Hello,
We recently had several rounds of severe storms here southeast Texas, and while we managed to not get flooded, we did have some pretty severe issues. I am 48, and have moved back home with my parents who are 81, and 74, and live on a fixed income, being their social security retirement, which doesnt even cover their bills, let alone pay for their copays for meds, doctor visits, etc. They both have COPD, and my mom is on oxygen 24/7. I work when I can, but also have to help them, and take care of the cleaning, yard, garden, and driving them where they need to go. The roof on their 53 year old home started leaking, and these storms, along with some hail damage, caused significant leakage in several places amd we dont have the money to fix it, or if insurance covers it, which is a huge if, the deductible on hail damage is 25K. It has to be fixed, as we have been told it is probably already causing structural damage up in the attic. I have been told a new roof is going to cost around 40K, and thats if there isnt any structural damage. There is also sheetrock in the ceiling in several places to repair, and some walls and trim as well. Its a mess, we have no funds for anything extra, dont qualify for assistance because we together make $10 a month too much, and we are already struggling to keep mortgage, insurance, medicines, doctors visits, utilities and groceries paid for every month. Please help! I am asking for $45,000 for the repairs needed and a new roof, but honestly, any help would be greatly appreciated. I hate that my parents who owned their own company and worked so hard their entire lives are having to live this way, not knowing if they can afford their meds and groceries each month. Thank you for reading my story.
