My name is Sophia, and I would like to share our story with all of you. Last year, my partner, our three little girls aged 6, 4, and a newborn born in Turkey 2 months ago, and I moved to Turkey in search of a better life and new opportunities. Unfortunately, right after our arrival, the immigration rules changed, making it challenging for us to obtain a residence permit. Initially, we were told we could get one with a 1-year rental agreement, but that suddenly changed, requiring us to purchase a property worth over $80K, which was beyond our means.
Despite the setback, we stayed on, as we had already spent all our savings on travel expenses and rent. However, the situation became more difficult when we realized that leaving our house was risky due to the ongoing mass campaign to catch and deport migrants, especially those of Arab descent, like my partner. This has left us feeling trapped and in a desperate situation.
Our options are limited, and we now face the tough decision of either returning to the Philippines, my home country, or finding a way to acquire a property in Turkey to secure our stay legally. I want to do everything I can to help my partner, even though he is not aware I’m doing this.
As a hopeful source of income, we have started a YouTube vlog channel, aiming for it to grow and support us through these challenging times.
We truly hope to leave Turkey as soon as possible, ideally by the end of August. In this moment of uncertainty, we appeal to anyone who can extend a helping hand. Whether it’s financial help or providing advice, assistance in raising enough for property, or sharing our YouTube channel to increase its reach, any support would be a blessing for us.
