I lost my old phone months back and didn’t think anything of it. I should have changed my Google password, being an android phone, but I wasn’t thinking about it because I figured it was just somewhere in the house. Fast forward to now and someone racked up $8,000 in Google Play chargers with my account on my credit card over the summer.
My card has a $17,000 limit and I was at $10,000. Other than my house it’s the only debt that I have. I’ll admit that I’ve been lax in checking my statements, as I always just pay over the phone and the overall amount that I pay per month hadn’t changed so I thought nothing of it. That was until I went to use the card for something and it was declined. I called the credit card company to check on it and was shocked to hear that I was way over the limit. I was pretty upset they let it go over the limit, but apparently you have to opt in for them to keep charges from happening once over. They wanted me to pay of the over limit amount upfront which I couldn’t do. Luckily, they let me do a monthly payment plan.
Other than that their only response to the situation was to get Google to fix it. As you can see in the picture they cancelled the last few charges, but that was it. This list goes on and on to the beginning of May. Now I’m stuck drowning because of someone else and I can’t really disprove it because it was confirmed with my account. I’ve since changed any passwords I can think of that were on the phone, have a new credit card, and have learned my lesson in not checking statements frequently.
On top of this I was scammed by someone I thought was going to help me. I had to send money to prove who I was. I’m desperate and we talked a long time before I did. For the longest time the person seemed legit and was truly going to help me with my situation. But, now that I did I don’t have money for bills or anything and my bank account is overdrawn and I have no way to survive. On top of that I got a flat tire on my way home from my lunch break.
Any help that I can get is greatly appreciated. This feeling of suffocation is the worst. Thank you for your time in reading about my situation.
