Hello friends,
My name is Jacob, and me and my wife have a little girl on the way. I’m so excited to be a dad! Her due date is October 25th, and my little family has hit some bumps in the road.
It all started when my trucks air conditioner went out. I let it go for a few months because of how expensive the repair would be. Unfortunately I couldn’t take a be 100+ degree weather here in Texas any longer, so I used my credit card for the repair ($1000). After that my breaks and rotors reached the end of their life and also needed replacing ($400). I thought this would be the end of issues, and to be fair it was. For a while. A couple months after the initial car issues, I blew a tire. Thankfully I didn’t crash, but I had to replace all four tires, as they were down to the threads ($700). Thankfully that was it… Until not one month later my dog developed severe pancreatitis in the middle of the night and poured blood from her behind, leading to an emergency vet bill ($1500). Life must go in terrible cycles, because last week my wife had to put her life-long dog down, due to severe CHF ($900). Finally, to top everything off, our washer stopped working yesterday and needs replacing (no idea how much that’s going to be).
Six months ago, all was well in the world. I’m a full-time paramedic, and I wouldn’t trade my job for anything. I’m paid relatively well as far as being a paramedic goes but getting hit this hard all at once isn’t very sustainable, especially when I add all my normal expenses into the equation.
I’m so excited to be a new father, and to support my family. I’m looking for a fresh start with my finances, because at this rate I’ll be behind on debt for many years to come.
That’s about all I have. Any and all help is massively appreciated!
