My name is Peter Mukodzani I am appealing for funds to help families that have been affected by cyclone IDAI. The assistance that we are providing is counseling to surviving family members and as well as financial help for them to rebuild what they have lost. The past week saw a cyclone called IDAI from the east making an unwelcome and unwanted entrance into southern Africa tearing into three countries leaving scars that may never be healed. The ravaging cyclone is still continuing with it also is rising death tolls, infrastructure damage and untold suffering. The three southern African countries that have been directly affected are Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique been the hardest hit. In Mozambique alone over a 1000 people have lost their lives with Zimbabwe losing up to 100 precious lives and in Malawi the number is rising. This is probably Southern Africa worst disaster. Natural disasters occur all over the world but Africa is the hardest hit as it is poor. Many organizations from the government, churches, businesses, non-governmental organizations and individuals are making frantic efforts to help but the effects are just overwhelming. Therefore the situation needs all the attention and all the assistance that can be rendered. The situation right now is that a huge area of Mozambique is covered with water and cyclone survivors are clinging to rooftops and elevated patches of land in Mozambique. This is a major humanitarian emergency that is getting bigger by the hour. Stories that have caught my attention besides whole families that have wiped out is a family that lost three young children, another family’s only desire is retrieve their only son’s body so they can lay it to rest and still other families are hopeful that their children will eventually make it home. One life lost is a life too many and therefore let us spare a thought to help save lives. There are many noble jobs we can do but saving life is indeed a noble one. This fund will go directly to those affected. It might not bring the dead back to life but indeed it can make a difference. I am not a writer by profession but the cause at hand has pushed me to give this background and I hope it will suffice in reaching to those who can spare a few dollars. I have attached a few pictures that are showing a tip of an iceberg of what the cyclone has done to our precious land. I thank you all for your time and help you anticipate giving. Together we can make a better world.
