Hello. My name is Brian.
My girlfriend is Angie. We have been together for around 20 years.. we have known each other longer.
We are your average couple. Just trying to live.
We vote, support our community , support law enforcement and are law abiding citizens.
Neither on of us really has any family. It’s pretty much just us.
Angie is 46 years old. She works as a independent care giver. I’ve seen her work 7 days a week , 24 hours s day for pretty much pocket change. Simply because the client’s family wouldn’t help their own sibling. The client had nobody to turn to so angie would help out without getting paid.
On particular client had a family member steal his car twice. I had to recover it both times. That client also had leaks in his ceiling and water damaged floors. So I repaired the roof, ceiling, floors and replaced carpets with no charge to the client. We paid for the materials and labor. I also did any repair work and maintained his car for free.
We also took in his dog when he passed.
This is pretty much how we treat all her clients.
It’s unfortunate but when people get old, some families forget they exist. We see this sort of thing often then not.
Neither one of us are the type of people that can turn our backs to people that need help.
If we are able to, we will do what we can to help.
I restore furniture and buy and sell antiques, art ,etc. I also invest and trade on the stock market.
Until the lockdowns we were able to pay our bills, provide assistance to those that needed it and still had money to save for emergencies or whatever.
Our savings and investments
Slowly withered away during the lockdowns. Now we can still pay our bills but there is no longer any savings or investments.
As far as a social life, we rent to stick to ourselves. Angie likes to have yard sales, watch Jeopardy and American Idol.
I do research, write articles on politics and volunteer time on various websites that focus on educating people and share information.
We are not on involved in any criminal activity.
We don’t party, don’t do drugs, don’t drink alcohol.
We don’t associate with people involved is such activity. At least that is what we thought until recent events.
Which brings us to why I am writing this.
Recently Angie got a call from a person she knows. The persons car broke down and he needed a ride. Angie was in the area and was headed to work. She would have enough to pick the person up and drop them off on the way to work. No big deal.
She picks the guy up and he has s couple of bags with him. They throw the bags in the trunk because she just cleaned the inside of her car.
After picking him up they get pulled over by city police.
Police officer says she was pulled over for tinted windows and broken tail light that wasn’t broke.
The police officer gets her driver’s license and runs her name. The officers partner comes and pulled the passenger out of car saying she recognized him and that he had a warrant and was on probation. How she recognized him I’ll never know because windows were tinted. You cannot see the person inside.
Her name comes up clear and cop asked her if he can search her car. She says no. Then he asked if he can search her purse and she says no. The lady cop then says ” you dont have the right to say no, he’s on probation. ” This isn’t true, police cannot search a womans purse just because the passenger is on probation. There is no database where a person can check if a person is on probation or wanted by the law. They don’t search cab drivers if their passenger is on.probatiin. It’s the same if a person is just giving another person a ride. They have to prove the driver knew the passenger was on probation or wanted.
They also have to be able to prove that passenger had access and control of her purse. She had it in her lap at the time so there is no way they they can prove he had access to purse.
Police officer asked her to step out of car. She steps put holding her purse. The female cop says “there it is” coming toward her. The cop that asked her to step out of the car grabs her purse from her and sets it on the roof of the car. She gets handcuffed and put in the back of police car. The police then proceeded to search her purse and her car. They went in the trunk and the only place they looked was the passengers bag. They didn’t look anyplace else.
She gets taken to the jail and learns that she is being charges for transportation for sale, methamphetamines and a couple of other felony charges. Apparently the guy had 1/2 pound of meth in those bags. He didn’t say it was his so she gets charged for it .
So I get a call from jail to arrange her bail.
While this is going on, the lady she works for, her current client is panicking because Angie didn’t show up. Keep in mind Angie has never missed a day at was late for work for the entire 5 years she has been working for this lady.
The ladies family members call the police to do a welfare check at our house. So the same department that just arrested her is at our place asking me where she is at. I tell them “in jail, your department arrested her about a hour ago.
I managed to get her bail taken care of but we have no more money for a lawyer . This is not a case for a public defender. They make deals, not win cases We can win this case. It was an illegal search plus the drugs were not hers. The passenger has priors for narcotic sales and posession. He is trying to say the drugs are hers.
This only requires a competent attorney. That cost money we no longer have.
So now we need to get a attorney to fight this case to keep her out of jail. We don’t have enough money. I’d even settle for a loan.
So I ask you if you can help her stay out of prison. She has committed no crime.
We would like this taken care of before her court date. Any amount will do.
This I’s California. It should cost about 10 to 15 thousand dollars to win this case. Any money left over shall be returned to donors. Respectfully,
