After back to back surgeries drowning in debt -trying to keep my home

I had two surgeries 12 months apart and my share of medical bills for the two surgeries was astounding considering I have insurance through my company.  The first surgery left me with $4200 in medical bills and the second surgery left me another $1900 not to mention I was only receiving short term disability that only paid about%60 of my pay…and I have been struggling for the last two years with limited mobility.  I am single and have no other means of supporting myself except through working. I have tried lowering all my monthly expenses and even tried to switch my medical insurance to get coverage through the VA since I am a veteran but the VA denied me…my medical insurance is very expensive at $199 every two weeks. I am trying to hold on to my home and prevent foreclosure. It’s not a lot of help for working class people out here and I can’t qualify for any loans because of my credit.
