I am a 23 year old who is fighting to get back on his feet, trying to move out of my parent’s place so I don’t have to commute and want to have the financial flexibility to thrive. I have been paying my way since I was 16 years old, even my own tuition at Baylor University where I achieved my BBA in Professional Selling & Management May 2020 and finally walked the stage May 2021, because I believe in being self-sufficient. Unfortunately, COVID ruined all of my plans, and I keep trying to fight back and I no longer can do it on my own and need help. Here is my situation.
I had secured a job with an investment firm before graduating. I began in June 2020, moved to Dallas, had my own apartment, paid everything my own way and was ready to begin tackling my student loan debt. After 3 months on the job, I was let go from the company in 30 minutes in September due to COVID layoffs. I got a small severance, but I’m in sales so my base pay was equivalent to $15/hour and I did not receive the outstanding commissions they owed me. I job searched during October and November and secured another job but had gone through my savings and had to terminate my lease and move home.
Since December I’ve been living at home, saving up money and getting back on my feet. I received a better job offer with a $25k pay increase, but I have to relocate back to Dallas immediately, or I’d have to commute over an hour from west Texas to Dallas.. I signed the lease on an apartment and move in June 12th, and had the money saved. However, after switching health insurance companies (due to my company), paying for movers (Over an hour from Dallas and moving by myself), and paying other outstanding expenses I’m drained and am scrambling to cover my initial deposit and rent.
This is a one time ask and favor, and I have overcame adversity time and time again. I never felt bad for myself, never wallowed, I just kept my head down and have put myself on the right path. I just need a one time favor to help get me across the line. I’m asking for any kind of contribution from you to help me overcome 3 job changes, 3 moves, crazy expenses, a national pandemic and a whirlwind of emotions. Thank you so much for your help!
