Hello, my name is Heather. I am doing the one thing I had hoped I would not have to do – ask for help.
I am hoping and praying by reaching out for the help that I will be able to get the dental work I so desperately need.
I have suffered for years with severe acid reflux, and despite the prescription medication my doctor prescribed to help reduce the effects, it has damaged my teeth so incredibly that I am in constant severe pain and they have literally been decaying and breaking off.
I have to take antibiotics for the infections, as I wait to get enough money to pay my portion of the bill. I have also been on a waiting list for different programs that help people that can’t afford dental care. Which can take up to a year.
I have had these issues since 2012 and ended up getting a hiatal hernia repair back in 2013 but unfortunately the surgery didn’t last very long. I have been having issues with acid reflux for the past few years.
The reason I have not been able to get the care I needed to solve the acid reflux was losing my insurance for a while and by the time I got it back the covid had just hit so that wasn’t a priority and then moving from one county to another caused delays in my new insurance and primary care physician.
Thankfully I have been referred to a specialist to have additional testing done to find out the underlying cause of my acid reflux and I am hopeful that the team of specialists will be able to help me treat this condition in a more effective manner.
I was told by my dentist as a result of having such severe acid reflux for such a long period of time dentures have become my only option.
I am disabled and am on a fixed income with social security. I do however receive Medicare and the majority of the cost of this will be covered under my policy.
I will need to pay $518.35 out of pocket to have the necessary work done. Being on a fixed income leaves me very little to no extra money to pay
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me in meeting this financial goal. I will be so grateful to be able to get back to eating solid foods and being able to chew.
It is so important to me, from a personal aspect, to be able
to get the dentures – I have been blessed with 6 amazing grandchildren and I would love to be able to attend their school functions and extracurricular activities while feeling confident in myself and smiling for pictures. I am forever grateful to any help anyone may be able to provide me.
