Hey guys I’m just getting ready to go into my third college year and I am having extreme mouth pain.
I have a temporary silver cap on my molar, I got a root canal done around 6-7 years ago on it. I’m 19 years old, so I am no longer covered under healthy smiles and my parents don’t have insurance. Temporary caps are only supposed to last 5 years maximum, they’re meant for short term, but because my mother didn’t want to pay for the work to be done, she didn’t get it done even when it would have been heavily discounted.
I work full time, I have an apartment, a vehicle I have on finance and my high car insurance. I just had to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 for my college and my $2400 tuition by September 3rd. I cannot afford to get this work done.
A huge problem I face is that I have a huge phobia of dentists. I’m sorry to go into it, but when I was a young child (probably 6-10) my mother took me to a dentist who put caps over all of my molars but didn’t properly clean the teeth first. When he took the caps off the next year or whatever the teeth were completely rotten underneath. Because I was already afraid of dentists, they choose not to tell me they were going to rip all of my teeth out of my head but that’s what they proceeded to do as they held me down. I cannot sit in a dental chair today without anesthetic or laughing gas. The fear is too much for me but tolerating this pain is just getting too much. It’s getting hard to work everyday.
The cheapest I was able to find a tooth extraction (cheaper than a new cap) with anesthetic is $950 and I will have to drive to the United States (I’m Canadian) to get the procedure done.
All donations are seriously appreciated and if you have any advice on a cheaper option in the Toronto/Kingston, ON or just over the NY Border I am open to suggestions for lower prices as well. I just need this work done.
i have never asked for money before and seriously appreciate everything ya’ll do for people.
