Recently, while at a friends destination wedding, I broke my jaw. It was a very unfortunate circumstance, not to mention very painful! Thank goodness this happened after the wedding reception and well into the next day, so I didn’t ruin anything on their special evening together.
As luck would have it, I was chasing my friends children around the pool area. As I was running, I looked back and in an instant, everything went black. Turns out when I turned back around there was a face height bar that I had missed and I hit it with a running force. Right to my mouth. I shattered one of my teeth and the upper part of my jaw was broken and fell about about a half inch down. It was just hanging in there.
My friends rushed me to the hospital right away. But because the wedding was on a weekend and the area we were in was remote, there were no dental surgeons that could help me at the time. We had to make our way back to the hotel, where I had to wait until the next day to get driven back to the city. When I got back home, a specialist had time to see me. However, he only had time on Monday, so I had to wait yet another day to go in. Leaving me with a broken jaw for two whole days!236
Because I had to wait so long for surgery, the dental surgeon couldn’t save my front teeth. I had to have the roots removed right away, due to the infection that got into them. Then my front teeth had to be shoved back up into place. From there, they had to be braced and now, I need multiple gum surgeries and the two teeth removed. Then eventually I will need to get two front teeth implants, so I don’t look like a permanent hockey player.
I’m looking for a last resort solution to my problem. My mother raised four daughters on her own and I have no grandparents left, or I would have asked one of them for help. I’m not big on asking other people for things, but desperate times call for it. I live in one of the most expensive cities in North America and work at a job that doesn’t supply medical care for employees. I found this cite online and it seemed like a decent thing to try as a last option.
