I’m 24 years old, have no dental insurance, and need $16,000 of dental work.
When I was younger, my parents took me to a bad dentist. He filled cavities that didn’t exist on any x-rays and didn’t seal any of them properly. He even did that with my front teeth, and before I left his office, I noticed those fillings were darker than my natural tooth color. They remain darker to this day. It’s extremely embarrassing.
Over the years, the spaces between those bad fillings and my teeth have allowed bacteria to hide and create massive cavities. I’ve been in constant pain for the last three years. Despite having a full time job, I have no dental insurance and haven’t been able to afford getting any work done. I can’t even afford a good dental plan.
During these three years of pain, I’ve seen several dentists for free x-rays and consultations. As expected with cavities, the three years of not treating them has only made them worse. Right now, I have visible holes in several of my teeth. I can’t eat on the right side of my mouth without a shooting pain in my right jaw. Sometimes it hurts so much that I can’t eat at all for an entire day.
Since I’m only 24 years old, I want to keep all of my teeth. In addition to embarrassingly high number of fillings that I need, the last two dentists I saw told me I need 4 crowns for sure and have two other teeth that may need crowns as well, but they won’t know for sure until they start drilling. I also have receding gums, but because of all the cavities I now have, my mouth has become a breeding ground for bacteria, so no one will estimate a treatment for my gums until my cavities have been taken care of.
Have you ever left a dentist in tears because you couldn’t afford to get any of the work done that you needed in order to keep your teeth and stop the constant unbearable pain you’ve been in?
I have. It’s a terrible feeling and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
I’ve even considered living out of my car so I can use my rent money for this, but after doing the math, it would still take me over two years to save up enough to get everything done, and by then it will almost definitely be too late to save all of my teeth, especially the ones that need crowns.
Please help me. I am very desperate and will be eternally grateful.
If you can help, thank you so much. I am sure great things will be coming your way.
