I am currently living below the poverty line, stuck staying with my parents who are also very poor. I am struggling to find a job and especially now since my car has been out of commission for a full month. The vehicle has failed inspection due to three errors that I am assuming will cost me at the very minimum a few hundred plus labor just to get fixed, not to mention the cost of towing the vehicle to get it sent to the repair shop, likely adding another hundred on top of that. It is illegal to drive on the road until it can pass a state inspection, so the financial stress from that is piling up. I cannot drive to job interviews with my own car and my dad’s car is also now out of commission from his own issues he has to repair, partially from me having to drive it all the time instead of my own, so I am completely without any transportation to get to and from anywhere. Luckily he is retired so he does not need a vehicle each day, but I am in desperate need to get my own car to be driveable again in order to get a job, and I cannot use my mom’s car since she needs that to get to and from her job. I have severe mental disorders too, which makes public transportation out of the question for me, so what I am saying is, that I am really trapped right where I am until I can get my vehicle to get back on the road. It is becoming an absolutely helpless situation.
I have been out of work for the past few years due to a separate physical health issue unrelated to the mental conditions, as we live in a 120 year old crumbling house, riddled with toxic dust and probably asbestos from the exposed walls that exist in every room, I have difficulty breathing and sleeping at night rendering me generally week, which has kept me from working, but I have begun airing out my room to breathe best I can, and i need a job ASAP to get out of this house and find an apartment on my own to improve my health, but I definitely need my car to pass inspection to be able to physically go to any job interviews I will have coming up. As you can see from the photo I’ve attached, I have basically no money at all. I have been doing online surveys in an attempt to keep my account afloat to pay off my credit card debt, but it sadly doesn’t pay me anywhere near enough to handle a large expense such as a car repair. Also attached, is the invoice of my car failing inspection. 2 of the three codes are vague and the inspectors had no idea what the codes meant and told me to send the car to an actual repair shop instead of the quick oil change place. I can’t even get past the cost it would be to tow the thing, let alone whatever insanely high price the garage is likely to charge me.
