I’m a 21 years old woman who’s a full-time student. I have a job, but most of my pay is going into bills, since I help my parents to pay the mortgage, the electricity, and a part of the groceries, and because of school, I couldn’t work many hours. I had recently got my license, and after years of taking the bus, and waking up early to get to work in time, since it’s across the city, I have bought a car. I didn’t buy it from a dealership, so changing the car wasn’t an option for me (not the smartest choice).
My car is a time-saver, since I don’t have to wake up at 2h in the morning anymore, and get enough time to do homework and taking care of my surroundings. I also drive my mom to work from time to time and help her get groceries. I have bought the car back in February, and initially, it had no problems, I even got it checked out, and the mechanic said everything was fine.
Two months later, after work, the car started making faint popping noises whenever I was at a red lights. The next day, when I started the car in the morning, it made a loud roaring noise, which scared me, but I still had to go to work. The weekend, I went to one of my parent’s friend who is mechanic, and they told me that the sound came from the transmission, but I had to get it checked out by a transmission specialist. The next day, I went to one, and they kept the car to examine it. After the 2 days, they told me the sound came from the front of the transmission. My parent’s friend said that it would be cheaper to replace the part.
Now, the sound has become increasingly worse, and the popping sounds are now louder and accompanied by a roaring sound. Since I lived in the opposite side of the city, I am scared that I get stranded over there, and being short on money right now, would be an inconvenience plus the towing service. The sound is loud, and now that it’s almost summer, and people have their windows down, people look around to see whose car is making that sound, and I feel so embarrassed every time.
Sometimes, my car has better days where the sound is not as loud, but it’s still there. The acceleration is sluggish, and sometimes that roaring sound appears when I start to accelerate. I’m in urgent need to repair that car.
I found a used part for 800$ for now. I would need at least 1400$ to cover everything correctly.
Please, and thank you for your help with this!
