My name is Amanda, and this has not been a stellar year for me so far.
Starting in December, I got into a car accident that totaled my beloved Honda Civic. (Roof was caved in and would have cost $8-10k to fix – car was worth $3k in perfect condition.) My dad was able to find a car to fix it up for me – that cost me $2,000 I didn’t have.
A month later, my health insurance changed, and I went from having to pay $0 a month, to $200 a month.
I switched to my work health insurance, to get a lower deductible (the first deductible was $2,250, now it’s $750) but it costs $60/paycheck, or $240 a month.
Got the new car, but the wrong sized tires were put on the car. One tire blew out on the highway and I had to get a whole new set – that cost me $500.
Then, I hit a HUGE FRIGGIN CANADIAN GOOSE – cracked the heck out of my windshield on the car I’d only had for a month and was still trying to pay off – that cost me $250.
Then, my dad said, “can your little brother live with you?” and then essentially gave up any responsibility for him, meaning I had to pay more for gas to drive him to and from school, pay for more groceries, etc. He started college in September. I had to shell out $400 for textbooks. He got his license. I have to shell out $250 extra for car insurance because he’s an 18-year-old male. He needs a cell phone – that added to my cell phone bill.
The AC in my car crapped out and I got a hole in one of my tires at the same time back in June – that cost me $600.
I wouldn’t usually ask strangers for money. But my dad won’t put any money towards paying me back for what I’ve helped my brother with. I have bills coming out the ying yang. I took out a personal loan to consolidate my credit card debt and more and more things kept coming up and the card is almost filled up again – on top of my huge loan payment I make every month.
Any little bit would help. I’m drowning.
Thank you in advance.
Crack windshield that needed to be fixed – the crack came all the way through from the outside to the inside.
