I hope this finds you and yours well.
I’ll try not to take up too much of your
valuable time with a lot of ramblings.
*No promises, though.*
I live in New Mexico, about 30 miles south
of Santa Fe, with my sister. We live alone
on 2.5 acres in a rural area. I am 61 and
my sister is 51 and we are low-income.
We have a small dollhouse business in a guest
house next to the main building…as well as
having accounts on Ebay…that pretty much
takes care of our usual daily needs.
Then a problem popped up, or should I say,
‘crunched up’? One that we don’t have the
funds needed to take care of it.
Namely, one day not too long ago, I crunched
my sister’s car. Our car insurance had lapsed
the day before and was to be reactivated the
We have been told that it will take something
between $5,000 and $8,000, depending on
what was discovered once the rim came off.
Something was said about ‘a damaged strut’,
whatever that is.
Now we do have one working vehicle, but my
sister has several health issues, among them
diabetes and a non-functional thyroid.
She also has issues with walking long distances
or standing for long periods due to a reconstructed
ankle on one leg and a replaced knee on
the other. This is complicated by the fact that
the replacements are worn and need replacement.
On top of that, her natural knee is needing work
after compensating so long for both.
To cover business needs, runs to the Post Office
and FedEx, as well as shopping for the household
and other errands, I have the running car
almost all the time.
This leaves my sister with no transportation and
with no neighbor’s close by, I’m worried.
So what I’m asking for is help to get hers up
and running again. I know this is an imposition,
but I don’t have any other option, save to ask for
any help I can get.
I’ve not been able to find a grant for car repair,
let alone file for one. There are funds for cars,
but not any to repair one. If the car was obtained
through a free car to needy families program, there’s
aid, but none for our situation.
As I said, we are low income, but holding our own,
with only Medicaid, due to my sister’s medical needs.
(for example…one vial of insulin costs over $300 and
she takes two kinds daily. And on our income level,
there is no way we could get that without Medicaid).
I would like to thank you greatly for your time and hope
that you can help me. My sister needs her car back.
It’s parked next to the one I use (both Matrixs) and
I want to cry every time I look at it.
If there’s any money left over, we’ll use it to spay/neuter four foster kittens and buy stove pellets, as that is our only
source of heat.
Again I thank you for your time.
Yours In Respect,
