I drive for a living, so not having a car means not being able to work. I have been working for the same company for the past three and a half years, and I have greatly enjoyed my job. Due to bills though, it’s been very hard to save money. When I do manage to save something up, something happens which eats up what I had saved. Now because I haven’t been able to work this week, I’m going to fall behind on my bills once again.
I have been having problems with the transmission in my car for the past month. I just got caught up on my bills, and was hoping my car would have lasted through this month. I would have been able to do something if it had. Unfortunately I wasn’t that lucky, and on the 27th of January the transmission broke. I can’t get any loans due to late payments while I was trying to catch up on my bills. I can’t get rid of the car because I still owe way to much. I tried talking to some dealers who self finance cars, thinking if I could get one of those I’d just tell my current finance company to take the car, and take the hit on my credit. My credit would have gone down the drain even more, but at least I would have been able to work. No dealer was willing to help me out with nothing down unfortunately. I’m trying to get transferred to working inside for the company I work for, but no telling how long it will take for them to find me a position.
All I want is my car fixed, so I can return to work. I love my job, and don’t want to lose it because I don’t have a car. The shop I talked to said it would cost anywhere from 1500-2500 to rebuild the transmission. They do have a payment plan though, but they require at least half of the total cost, with the other half being payed monthly over the course of 3 months. I’d be able to do that, if I had the half to put down.
