The instructions say to write at least 400 words, which to some is hard to do. I however, have no problem with that! But I will try to explain everything without making you read a small novel 😊
Hello! I am a single mother to a 16 yr old daughter and a 15 yr old son. I also am unable to work due to several medical issues. I receive Social Security disability and have for over 15 yrs. Being on a limited income makes things hard. Hard to save money and sometimes even hard to pay bills and it’s extremely frustrating. I have/had a 2006 Hyundai and for the most part I didn’t have too many problems with it considering the age. That is until this year, it’s been in and out of the garage more than 5 times and I spent all my savings fixing it. Recently my daughter and I were on our way to pick up a prescription when we started having car troubles again. As I was pulling over, because there’s smoke everywhere, I lost all power and had to use the emergency brake to stop. Which is always a stressful thing to have to do. We got out of the car and as I was walking in front of the car to the side of the road, something exploded! Which scared both my daughter and I and also brought several people out of their houses to see what was going on! By this time there was smoke coming out  everywhere, and I knew it wasn’t good. I’m just thankful that neither my daughter or I were injured. After having it towed back to a mechanic, I found out I would need a new engine which would cost me around $6000 or more. It also needed a whole new exhaust and a/c compressor, so I made the decision that it wasn’t worth putting that much money into. Since then I’ve been trying to find another vehicle and it hasn’t been going well. The reason for that is because when I was in the hospital in May for my 22nd surgery, someone stole my identity and my credit took a deep dive. Which is really frustrating because I had worked really hard to get my credit up after my divorce 7 yrs ago. I have found a couple different cars and small suv’s for between $5000-$9000, but I’m having trouble with financing because of my credit. It’s really hard being without a car, especially with school about to start soon. On top of that, my son plays football and Lacrosse and I go to every game, no matter how far away it is. With it being football season, it’s especially important to have a car! I want my son to know he’s a priority and that I support him in everything he does. As I stated above I’m disabled and unable to work. I really enjoyed working and being around people, and would love to be able to work.  But also, it’s hard because looking at me you wouldn’t think I’m disabled. But I’ve had 22 surgeries , I get multiple injections all over my body just to be able to move around without too much pain, and I take 13 Rx’s every day. Unfortunately I live in almost constant pain. This also means I see Drs a LOT more than most people, so I need to have reliable transportation.
Being able to purchase a car would completely change our lives. I wouldn’t have to ask others to take me to get groceries or to Drs appts, and take my kids to and from school. It really would help to ease the burden. I know there are a lot of good people in this world who love to help others and I am one of them. If I were to receive financial help, I plan to pay it forward as soon as I’m able to. You wouldn’t just be helping our family out, but potentially helping many others as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read our message, we truly appreciate it!
