Hi Everyone, I am a mom that lives in the Pacific Northwest. I have 1 son who is 13 and I am married to my high school sweetheart. I have to say things were pretty good until last February. We’ve always been able to pay our bills and make ends meet. My husband just graduated with his AA in chemical dependency. And I worked in the social service field, helping moms and dads successfully navigate through the CPS system to reunite families.
But ever since February/March and the shut-down due to Covid, our lives have been shook up! I have been out of work, and receiving my unemployment of $356 a week. I can’t stand sitting around doing nothing, so I have picked up a little side gig selling products through direct sales (MLM, hey it’s better than nothing!) but it’s not enough to even pay the bills.
I know I am not the only person in the world struggling with this, but you can’t succeed if you don’t try. So I thought I would try this route and see if we could get any relief to help with our monthly bills and our huge auto repair. My biggest worry is not having medical insurance and the clutch in our car is going out. I don’t qualify for state benefits due to the $356 a week I get from unemployment. The car needs a new clutch desperately!!
My 6 month goal is to get the clutch replaced in our vehicle, and attend a training to apply for a peer support position (employment) in my community. The next training is in September, and I would love to be hired and have a job by the end of October! I don’t see this as a long term problem, I am just in a bad spot and need a little help. Our tax return would be amazing at this point; we still have not received it. We filed last February and I’ve called a couple times to check the status—as the “where’s my refund” never changes. Its been processing for 7 months!!!
Someone throw me a bone!
But in all seriousness, I hope that I can return the favor and pay it forward to someone when we get in a better position. I miss the days of us both having a paycheck, having our monthly bills paid, and having a decent running car.
I’m staying positive, trying not to beg too much and just tell my story. Thank you for taking the time to read, and I promise to pay it forward when I am able.
