Thanks for reading my post in advance. As with others I find this an extremely odd situation to be in but when needs must and when all other avenues have been explored.
Pure and simple the car broke down on the way home from work the other day at 3am. Being sensible I had recovery assistance and the car got recovered to a garage that’s walkable from home. Unfortunately one of the things you can’t control or predict is the £1300 repair bill from the timing belt snapping and the knock on damage that that causes.
I look back had how I got to this point now with a car that just doesn’t work and relying on colleagues to get me to work or the bus or pedal cycle. The bad run with cars started about two years ago. When I got driven into the back of on the motorway which wrote off a good reliable car I had for years. Insurance paid out and I was able to buy another good reliable car. Unfortunately a medical episode caused me to pass out and crash off the motorway in that one Literally weeks after the first vehicle loss. A couple week stay in hospital never did discover how or why I passed out. But as is standard I couldn’t drive for a year after that just in case the same thing happened again. When the time came that I could drive again, an elderly friend of my parents was getting rid of their car as they could no longer drive. I purchased it to help them out as quick easy way for them to release funds from a car that was just sat on the drive for them. The twelve months since then has been a year of throwing money at the thing to keep it going. It’s been a year of ever decreasing circles, unable to break the cycle of it draining my savings to keep it running and on the road. Culminating in this last event that happened this week leaving me backed into a corner with seemingly no way out. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but unfortunately not going to help me get out of this situation and honestly on reflection I probably would still help out my parent’s friend again if I had a do over, as it just would be the right thing to do.
So that’s it all in a nutshell. Once again thanks if you can help out.
