My name is Steven Thompson. I am 25, currently unemployed due to… well, if you check my facebook page you should understand a little more about my situation. Suffice it to say I am now slightly less than employable. I have been a tire technician, tech support for Sprint, made pizza for two years, worked for Kirby Vacuums for a few months, worked in a call center doing cold call telemarketing… Even went door to door dropping off fliers. I’ve done construction, landscaping, roofing and demolition otherwise, although not a lot of it. What I’m getting at here is, I’ve tried different tasks. I’ve also attempted varied hobbies such as gaming, guitar, sports, writing, drug use, forum trawling (both for info and to help), I’ve even got over a decade experience in computer repair. I find that I grow bored with just about everything save managing something. I don’t work well with having bosses, as they usually are idiots or too distracted by toys to pay attention to real life.
In comes the Rock Society. A good friend of mine recently showed me a red garnet the size of his head. An amazing find, and it came from within 20 miles of where I am currently sitting. While I missed out on that one and he got it, it got me to thinking. Why not create a gift shop on HWY 180? I’ve taken a look at the SBA and several other associations that offer assistance, and was preparing to start filing grant paperwork and get my LLC. Except I’m an hour from Fresno and my trucks insurance is expired. I have a business plan mostly drawn up, the key points are 600,000 people come through here a year, twice. Tourists spent 112 million in the park in 2013. Squaw Valley is huge – more square miles than people. We are the gateway to Kings Canyon, and while a lot of the tourists don’t like to stay in a trailer dominated community, they don’t mind taking our rocks. Especially if we combine a gift shop with an iced coffee bar for the coming summer, as there is none up here right now. In fact, there’s two hotels, two gas stations, two realty offices, an auto shop and a pizza parlor. That’s it.
I’m looking forward to hearing back from you, as I know this idea is more than a pipedream – I’ll be looking for other investors after 48 hours passes otherwise. I just can’t hope to be able to complete it in time for the season alone. Help me get this off the ground, even if it’s just a small donation to get my company formed. We need jobs in the community and tourists need cold coffee and rocks!

P.S. The attached picture is just what I have at hand here. It comes from near property that is currently for sale, so there’s plenty more!
