Thank you for taking the time to read my request.
I met my husband David, a Georgia native, in Upstate New York in 2005. Seven years ago David was hit by a dump truck at the age of 30. He suffered a major concussion, a crushed ankle and a punctured lung. His doctors explained that David would need to live in a very warm climate year round otherwise his body would be in proliferating pain and arthritis and headaches were inevitable. Body movement would become more and more difficult and one doctor even mentioned that David’s brain and body were now like that of a fifty year old man.
As a young couple with a two year old daughter living paycheck by paycheck, the plan to move south was put on the back burner, maybe when Molly is out of high school we thought.
For five long years I watched the love of my life turn into a depressed shell of a man. New York State’s weather got colder and the winters grew longer. His body became more fragile and his mind became dark with thoughts of suicide.
I returned home from work on an April Saturday at 4pm. It was 30 degrees F outside still.
Per design I found my David laying on the bed. Every time he moved he felt pain. His headaches were becoming debilitating. Our little Molly lying next to him trying to hang out with daddy. I had had enough. That day I started planning our relocation to Florida.
I had to choose a warm enough climate and a place with good schools and a city where my bubbly, social daughter could flourish. My mother also lives in Florida so being close to a grandma made sense.
I sold everything we could including one of our cars and my thriving local business. We only needed one car now anyway. I sold my young company too early and didn’t get the return I deserved but it moved us to hot and humid relief for David and it helped me start Molly’s Toy Box.
Molly’s Toy Box is our online collectible toy company featuring FunKo toys. All the online shops who carry Funko, network and collaborate because eventually FunKo retires each character and toy (some before others) and each company will inevitably run out. Funko has great customers and their collections are not only a hobby but bring joy to their lives.
We have sunk all of our money and time into this company and nothing will stop us. I know how to create a successful, prosperous brand and I am proud to announce that Molly’s Toy Box will focus on creating jobs for employees with special needs and brain injuries like my David.
Unfortunately our funds are running out. I must stay home with David and he cannot work outside of the house. I have sold everything that we don’t need to survive. Our daughter Molly, who is now nine years old, is our only focus. David and I live very simply always making sure Molly has everything she needs so that her life is as unaffected by our situation as possible.
We need $35,000.00 to buy more inventory and I need to place ads online to grab more attention and to become more established.
Anything you can donate to us will go directly to growing mollystoybox.com. A company that not only will become my daughter’s inheritance but at this point is our only hope of surviving.
Thank you for your consideration and your generous spirit.
