Thank you for taking a moment to read my plea. I am currently in a huge financial bind that may lead to me losing my brick and mortar business along with my home and car.
My husband, Jerry, and I bought a bar in a small town 4 years ago, and things were going great. I had been a work at home mom prior to this, so I took on the roll of running the daily operations of the business while my husband kept his full time job. We opened the doors in August 2014. In September 2016, my husband suffered a massive heart attack. Needing to be with him, I ignored the business somewhat while he was in the hospital. Even after he came home it was hard to keep everything balance. So we took out an advance loan that took a percentage of our credit card sales to pay it back.
Things evened out and the business was doing well. I was able to pay the bills an keep things rolling fairly smoothly. In January 2018 I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and was in ICU for 2 weeks and rehab for another 3 weeks. I am so thankful that I did not suffer any paralysis or any real physical deficits. However, the business was once again ignored, and while our family tried to step in to help, things didn’t go quite as smoothly as it could have. When I was able to come back, I found ourselves in a hole, and tried digging out of it. We opted to renew our advance loan, but were careless enough to not read the exact details and calculate how that would affect us.
The loan company was taking 33% of our daily credit card sales. Our finances started to spiral. Not recognizing the problem for what it was, we opted to take a second loan that put a lien on our house and took daily withdrawals to pay it back. It pulled us out temporarily, but we found ourselves using my husband’s paycheck to keep the business afloat week after week. Until we finally realized what was happening. Between the two loans, we are paying out $8,000 per month, which is what is hurting us.
We are currently looking for a consolidation loan to payback the two current loans so we can free up some cash flow. Unfortunately, we have fallen behind a couple of bills that absolutely have to be paid within the next 24 hours or we won’t have a business to run and will still have these loans to pay, which means we could potentially lose our house with the lien on it. I have been tryng all week to make the money we need but have reached the pivotal moment when aside from robbing the nearest gas station, I won’t make enough to keep the doors open, and the stress itself is scaring the crap out of me because the last thing we need is another medical crisis to get through.
I am not asking to help pay off my loans. Although I would not refuse that assistance if it’s available. However, the big things I need to pay immediately are 1) our electic bill of %5,080; 2) our food vendor of $6,000; and 3) $1,200 to catch up on our car payment. For a total of $12,280.
Really I just want my life back. We are both stressed out that there seems to be a wall between us and it hurts me so much that I can’t fix this quickly. I feel like I’m getting lost in this shuffle, and I feel if we can just get beyond this hurdle, we will be alright.
As the primary operator of our business I feel it is my job to find all the help that we can. I’ll beg, borrow or steal to keep the doors open on my husband’s dream. I’ve already borrowed, I believe I have already stolen. And now I’m trying the begging part.
Please help in any way that you can. Money can be sent via Pay Pal to https://paypal.me/SuzysPlace. Any inquiries can be sent there as well.
Your kindness is appreciated. And I hope one day in the near future I’ll be in a position to pay it forward as well.
