I’m a young African woman living in Namibia. I’m divorced for 3 years and living with my 2 children. After the divorce I’m financially not stable, I have to many debts and are struggling to meet all the needs of my kids. I sold my house to cover some debts. I always believe in hardwork and earning money to help myself and the others depending on me, therefore after few attempts of doing different businesses wich were not successful I finally last year started crop farming on a piece of communal land I have. I spended what I had on the project by putting up the necessary infrastructure such as the greenhouse with the cheapest drip system I could get. Something that I’m actually very proud of. I planted tomatoes and greenpepper for the start, I made used of consultant’s to help with the project, but could not afford their fees anymore in the middle of the project. I continued with some free guidance from the agronomist and succeeded with the greenpepper although the tomatoes did not survived. My aim/dream is to become a successful crop farmer in the region were I’m farming and to utilized the 2 hectare I have available fully. I believe that I will be able to get out of the debts if I succeed with my project/business. I will appreciate if anyone can assist me to realize my dream so that I can pay off my debts and be able to buy a house for my kids and also be able to grow my crop business which will eventually benefit the community through job creation.
Currently I only have my salary as an income and with my debts it’s very difficult to meet all the needs of my kids and also trying to support the business, there is still a lot to be done on the plot, such as storage and cooling rooms to be constructed, solar system to be installed for electricity and also for water supply since I’m currently operating with a windmill and currently the government cannot help with solar systems, workers compounds to be constructed, greenhouse to be expanded etc.
I will highly appreciate for any help even not funded for the whole project, but a little drop in the bucket will also do.
I see this project as the solution for my financial situation and believe that if I succeed, I will proudly buy a house for my kids and pay off all my debts
