Hi, my name is Kara,
I am 57 years old and I have worked my tail off for my entire life. I am a mother of 2 boys Cody who is now an army veteran and Dillon, who has resided in heaven since he was 8 years old. In 2002 he got run over by a drunk driver while we were camping. Everyone tells me I am the strongest person they know, but I don’t feel like I’m very strong right now. I am going through a bitter divorce… He is dragging this out as long as he can, in hopes that I will come back to him. I was self employed with my husband for 20 years and he kept the business, so I am currently unemployed due to the divorce. I do not feel like I can hold a regular job due to the severe spondylosis (bone spurs rubbing on my spinal nerves) that is in my back and neck. I moved from Iowa to Arizona to be with my older sister who also recently lost her job, because she could not keep up with her work due to her own health problems. No one in our family is very healthy, but we don’t complain, and we don’t usually ask for help. My sister and I have been living in her rented apartment, but we have to be out by April 1st and with no money we are completely lost as to what we will do. We both should be on disability due to our health problems, but we would rather earn our own way than file for disability. We have decided that we want to open a retail store where we will sell our hand made goods, custom furniture and repurposed furniture. In AZ those stores do very well, and we are both very talented at art and woodworking, so I know we will succeed at this venture. I have been told by my lawyer I cannot take out a loan until this is over with, I’m almost out of money and my sister is broke too. I don’t know when, or if I will ever see any money from him, so I am asking for help here. If we can get the funding our store will be called The Kollectible Karousel. I have already designed our logo, so I will post it here along with a picture of my son that was killed by the drunk driver. That was in Nebraska at Lake McConaughey if you need to check my authenticity… I’ve never asked for anything… I am usually the one helping others, so this feels very strange to me, but I pray that the right person or persons will see this and help us out. Any amount will help, and thank you in advance. Kara (and my sister Jody)
