We are a married couple in Australia. We were running a successful animal rescue, we rescued cats and dogs from death row and homelessness – vet treated them, socialised them, cared for them and then adopted them for heavily reduced prices to loving families. We did this because we loved what we were doing.
However doing this for 2 years, while being newly weds and trying to live our own lives caused us to get into debt.
Not only do we owe $20,000 on credit cards from funding the rescue out of our own pocket for so long, but we also have our car loans which we were required to get a new vehicle to transport these animals and we have our student loans which we acquired studying to better ourselves for our future.
We don’t regret getting ourselves into debt, but now we are a married couple, our rescue has shut down due to lack of funds (we saved 200 animals and found all of them new homes) and we are looking to settle down, buy a house and have children.
Due to our debt we cannot see ourselves doing this for years, we both work full time and work our buts off but it gets us no where.
Please help us.
