My name is Leslie, I am a single mother, who is employed full-time. The year 2021 was a horrible year for me. I had surgery at the end of 2020, and I was not in the best health physically or mentally. In January of 2021 a childhood friend I had not seen in a long time stopped by to visit me. Before I knew it, he had moved in. That is when my nightmare started. Throughout that year, I experienced extreme physical, mental, and financial abuse. His abuse got so bad toward me, that my son went to live with my sister. He had made me mentally sick, and I was not thinking in my right mind. I was scared and unsure about how to get away from him. In December after enduring months of abuse, my abuser was arrested for physical assault. Eventually, I was able to find the courage to get an EPO. The EPO was changed to a DVO with a 3-year time frame. My abuser was arrested within a day of the EPO being issued and was arrested twice after that for violating the DVO. The arrest was followed by court date after court date in 2022. After being released & arrested multiple times, he was finally incarcerated for failure to appear & probation violations. I experienced extreme financial hardship as a result of this relationship. He would not work, and in addition to normal household bills, he maxed out my credit cards. I had to negotiate all the credit cards and close them out. I was still left with the balances due, and making the minimum payments each month. My credit score went from 750 to 350. I had to get a modification on my home loan because I had gotten behind on my mortgage. He caused extensive damage to my home, where I had to make repairs and change locks etc. He caused $7,700 worth of damage to my car, I filed an insurance claim, but ultimately lost on that as well, because I had to negotiate the $1,000 deductible with the business that made the repairs, because I was unable to pay the deductible. The cosmetic damage that occurred to my car has been repaired, however, it still has issues. I need new brakes, rotors, an alignment, and tires as soon as I can afford them. I pursued felony charges against him for the damage he did to my car, and he was indicted for Felony Vandalism and Persistent Felony Offender. That court case is still ongoing, and he should be sentenced within the next month. I continue to pick up the pieces of my life, my abuser may be in jail now, which gives me some peace of mind, but I am still left with the physical, mental, and financial damage he caused. As I was beginning to recover last year, I had to put our family dog down unexpectedly. Doing so was extremely hard on myself and my son. After our dog had to be put down, I was fortunate enough to have a friend give me Havoc, which is the puppy I am asking for help for today. Havoc has been a blessing to both me and my son. Unfortunately, on Friday, I came home from work to find that he was not able to use his back leg. I was able to get him to the Vet on Saturday to learn the unexpected news that he had a salter harris fracture of the proximal tibia in his leg. The Vet proceeded to tell me that the ideal option was for Havoc to have surgery, this is why I am asking for help today. It is estimated that the surgery will cost between $2,000.00 – $4,000.00, which is money I do not have. Havoc means so much to me and my son. I have to do whatever it takes to see to it that Havoc has surgery and regains full use of his leg. The veterinarian has said he should have a 100% recovery and gain full use of his leg if he has the surgery. I would appreciate any help you can give to see that Havoc has the surgery he needs.
I am trying to secure $4,000 to cover surgery and travel so that Havoc can have the surgery he needs.
