Hi!
My name is Shelly Rogers. I live in Elm Mott Texas. I work with individuals training their dogs from basic obedience to solving problematic issues with their pets. I also train service dogs and we often are asked about grants for individuals to acquire to get a fully trained service dog. To date I have not found any foundation to refer people too.
There is a small child in our community that has just had his second open heart surgery and he is need of a service dog. I do not have the financial freedom to just train a dog for him so I’m seeking donations to help with the time and costs to train a service dog for them.
The dog will be trained to assist the child in everyday life from walking with him for stability assisting him from sitting to standing positions, navigating stairs safely and as an alert others if the child we to go down and require medical assistance.
Having a cardiac service dog will help monitor his heart condition as well as detect anomalies in heartbeats and blood pressure changes.
Training this type of service dog takes a true commit to the animal and the child as well as the parents and close family to work with them on the specific details that are required of them to also take part in continued training for the child and the dog once the dog goes home full time with the child.
The dog will be in training anywhere from 6 months to two years on a consistent basis.
We are seeking to raise $10,000 so Aaron can have a trained dog soon as he is only 8 years old.
Thank you so much for taking the time and for your consideration to help Aaron.
